The Arthritis Diet

If you suffer from arthritis chances are you'll do just about anything to avoid making the pain even worse. There are some foods that can actually make your arthritis pain get increasingly worse if you aren't careful how much of the food you eat. In order to avoid your pain from taking over your life, you might want to cut a few of these foods out of your diet for good.

Sugary and processed foods are really terrible for your body to begin, but when you add arthritis to the occasion your pain can skyrocket. Sugar is thought to add to inflammation within in the body which is particularly bad for anyone that already suffers from inflammation. Of course, you might also consider that sugar is high in calorie and can make you gain weight, which is really bad for your arthritis as there will be even more pressure on the joints. You might also consider that sugar can provide you with a boost of energy that usually results in an energy low later, which can't be great for arthritis suffers who already feel fatigued.

Red meats and shellfish will also do you very few favors when it comes to your arthritis. Although both of these foods are part of some healthy diets, when you have arthritis they should be cut out completely. Red meats and shellfish actually increase the omega 3 in your body, which can lead to gout if there is too much irritation. With the joints already inflamed your chance of getting gout is higher, which won't help you with your current pain.

Arthritis can be a very restricting problem if you don't know how to alter your lifestyle to deal with it. By cutting out these foods, or anything that contains them, you will be on the right track to a less painful life. Of course, there is an even larger list of foods you should eat when you have arthritis, so don't feel too down about what you have to give up.

Melatonin Made Simple

There has been a lot of talk lately about something called Melatonin, although it is not often made clear exactly what this is.  Chances are you've felt sleepy at one point in your life, or perhaps you could not sleep when you needed to. The natural chemical in human and animals bodies that tells you when to sleep and when not to is called Melatonin, but its not quite as simple as this.

Yes, if you're having trouble sleeping then more than likely your doctor will prescribe you a substance that contains melatonin. Typically, this hormone is secreted naturally from the pineal gland when nightfall begins. This is because the human's natural sleep cycle begins at nightfall and ends when the sun is beginning to rise.

Melatonin doesn't just alter your sleep though. In fact, Melatonin can also be associated with weight loss. It is shown in many studies that this natural chemical actually increases the good fats in the body while lowering the bad ones. So, many people who have a healthy amount of Melatonin in the system might lose weight without actually having to switch up their diet.

Of course, too much Melatonin in your system can also be incredibly bad for you. A lot of side effects associated with over abundance of this chemical can effect your daily life as well as your sleep. These side effects include nightmares, headaches, confusion and other mental problems that can keep you from living life happily. This is one reason why Melatonin can not be prescribed for more than a short period of time.

If your sleep schedule is a bit off then you might want to blame your Melatonin levels. This chemical can a huge part of your life, even if you don't realize it. So try to eat a healthy diet and support this chemical's healthy levels, which will provide you will happier life and more restful sleep.
