People get acne for many different reasons. No two people
are alike. Many different types of acne also exist. However, some standard
causes do exist for basic types of acne. Here is a list of the most common
causes for acne. This may help you overcome and treat acne.
- Food. The type of food that you eat may contribute to acne. In fact, eating foods containing too much sugar, or consuming too many dairy products, may lead to acne breakouts. This is particularly true if you tend to have breakouts on your chin, or along your jawline. If you find this is a problem, curb your intake of sugar and dairy products and see if your acne subsides.
- Stress. Stress is a common cause for many health problems, including acne. If you find you have breakouts more commonly during stress, or following stressful events, it may help to engage in stress reduction techniques. Stress can increase levels of certain hormones in the body, which can impact acne and result in more oil production in the body.
- Using new detergents or soaps. Sometimes simply switching the type of soap you use, or detergents that you clean your laundry with, can lead to irritation and breakouts. If you find a sudden outbreak bothering you, it may be nothing more than switching the brand of soap that you use. Switching back to your ordinary brand may help alleviate your problem. Your body may also adapt to the new brand you have chosen with time.
- Sleeping with makeup on. It is important that you always wash your face and never go to bed with makeup on. This is a sure way to get an acne breakout. If you want to avoid acne, always wash your face in the morning, and before bed, particularly if you wear makeup.
